Michelle Eernisse-Villanueva is a dedicated professional with a strong background in law enforcement, criminal justice, and regulatory compliance. She is currently an Enforcement Analyst (SSA) at the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA), Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS), where she has worked since January 2013. In this role, she reviews and evaluates criminal background checks, liaises with various legal entities, and prepares case reports for disciplinary action. Her responsibilities include monitoring criminal cases, writing recommendations, and managing referrals to the Attorney General’s Office. She also provides administrative support and develops analytical tools to streamline enforcement processes.
Michelle’s work in enforcement follows a long-standing career in criminal justice. She previously served as an Enforcement Technician at the DCA, BBS, from 2009 to 2013, where she managed enforcement case files, processed disciplinary actions, and supported analysts. Her experience also includes a role as an MFT Evaluator (OT) at BBS from 2007 to 2009, analyzing the qualifications of potential Marriage and Family Therapists and assisting applicants through the examination process.
Before her work with the DCA, Michelle gained valuable experience with the Davis Police Department, serving as a Community Service Officer and Volunteer from 2003 to 2007. In these roles, she was responsible for data entry, crime analysis, and the management of confidential police records. Additionally, she worked on special projects such as the Neighborhood Watch Program and assisted with public safety during special events. Michelle also volunteered for several police operations, further developing her analytical and communication skills.
Michelle’s early career included an internship with the California Department of Justice's Investigative Service Program, where she analyzed court and police reports related to sex offenders and contributed to the Violent Criminal Apprehension Program (ViCAP). This experience honed her ability to work with sensitive information and sharpened her investigative skills.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento (1995), and an Associate of Arts in Art from Sacramento City College (1993). She also completed the Crime & Intelligence Analysis Certification Program at California State University, Sacramento, in 2004. Over the years, Michelle has developed expertise in case management, data analysis, and enforcement processes. She is proficient in a wide range of computer systems, including Microsoft Office, CAS, ATS, ViCAP, and CLETS, and has consistently demonstrated excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
Throughout her career, Michelle has proven herself as a reliable, detail-oriented, and proactive professional, with a strong commitment to public service and law enforcement.
